Welcome
‘Hillside’ is a charming 16th Century National Trust thatched Exmoor cottage which is privately run to offer short or long term Bed and Breakfast accommodation throughout the year. The cottage overlooks the picturesque village of Allerford which can be reached by crossing the famous medieval packhorse bridge over the River Aller - only a short walk away along the lane from ’Hillside B and B’.

Garden at Hillside The views from ‘Hillside B and B’ over the Porlock Vale and the surrounding countryside, from Dunkery Beacon to the sea, are outstanding and can be enjoyed equally from the peaceful, south west facing, country garden setting of ‘Hillside’ or, in inclement weather, from the comfort of our cosy sitting room with log fire.

Badger Watch
Our garden is a haven for Exmoor wildlife especially the badgers who regularly visit in the late evening or at night to enjoy a treat of peanuts on the lawn. During the day the garden is a favourite haunt of all sorts of wild birds, while buzzards and ravens patrol the skies overhead. At night tawny owls visit and the barn owls can often be heard and spotted from the garden and cottage, while they are out hunting.
